PARPS VSDs and Trade Waste Receival Station Upgrade

To improve trade waste processing and remove the need to redirect to other wastewater treatment plants, the Port Adelaide Relift Trade Waste Receival Station (PARPS) Project was initiated. ATSYS was contracted to design and construct new electrical and control systems for the PARPS VSD and Trade Waste Receival Station Upgrade.

Improving trade waste processing, removing the need to redirect water for treatment

Wednesday, 20 January 2021

The upgrade was set to bring the station to a functional state that would maintain capability of providing existing levels of service, maintain the reliability of infrastructure in a changing environment, and reduce high risks identified at treatment plants.

To meet the desired outcomes for the project, ATSYS delivered a new control panel mounting plate and new instrumentation panels including a new PLC dedicated to the Trade Waste Receival station. The decommissioning of the Trade Waste Receival from the main plant PLC was the final step in getting the station back in operation.

In house tools created by ATSYS generated SCADA and PLC configuration quickly and easily to improve time efficiency. This tool can now be reused across other projects for SA Water. In the process, ATSYS was also able to identify cost saving opportunities by reusing instrumentation. The PARPS VSD and Trade Waste Receival Station Upgrade was completed in July 2017 with a fully operational station for SA Water to utilise for many years to come.
