Improving the efficiency of grit and screenings removal

Thursday, 21 January 2021

ATSYS delivered a new switchroom and switchboard with an upgrade of existing SCADA graphics and tags as well as new PLC and HMI programs to include the sludge handling facilities and new primary sedimentation tanks. Utilising the ATSYS Tag Build tool, over 3,000 tags were created for the upgrade. Significant office and FAT testing resulted in reduced time required on site for this project and meant that the upgrade to the main PLC was completed within only a four-hour site shutdown window which proceeded without issue.

With flexibility and adjustments to the control philosophy, ATSYS was able to further clarify the original project scope. In doing so, ATSYS was able to identify a cost saving opportunity for SA Water in terms of single rack processors as opposed to the more costly hot/standby processors. ATSYS assisted beyond their commissioning scope with plant optimisation and balancing process with plant equipment to ensure the successful delivery of the Aldinga Wastewater Treatment Plant Inlet Works for SA Water.
