Supporting the increased water demand of the township of Penneshaw

The Penneshaw WTP Electrical and Controls Upgrade project scope was to replace the main switchboard, Reverse Osmosis (RO) control panel, and pump control panels.
The Penneshaw Reverse Osmosis WTP was constructed in 1999 and is located at the western end of Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island. The plant is a seawater desalination plant that has a capacity of 0.3ML/day. The new Sea Water Reverse Osmosis system supplied by Osmoflo replaced the existing RO system and is capable of producing 400kL/day of RO Permeate.
The ATSYS team delivered a successful upgrade of the plant and water generation equipment. The Penneshaw Water Treatment Plant saw an increased throughput by 33% with the new main switchboard, upgraded control panel, six variable speed drives, upgraded distribution panels, new PLC program, and upgraded existing SCADA graphics and tags.
The successful delivery of the project on-time allowed SA Water to continue to supply the township of Penneshaw with fresh water during the critical Christmas and New Year holiday period. ATSYS also provided enhanced remote visibility into operation of the plant for remote diagnostics, which will assist SA Water in decreasing logistical challenges associated with the future maintenance of the remote Penneshaw Water Treatment Plant.
